THE GILLISPIE TEAM

Jacek Gillispie is long-time friend of mine who used to get his kicks by thumping around on a stage in some dingy club screaming into a microphone while toting 1” gauges in his ear lobes. today he facilitates the financing of one of the most important decisions anyone could make in their lives - buying a home.

he found his start in the finance world as a teller at a bank and took every opportunity to further his education in the field of lending. after years of being in the industry, he now has his own branch with Summit Funding and is the best darn home loan lender in all of Lewis County, Washington.  long story short, he wanted me to design some business cards for him and I said yes.

THE PROBLEM:

The Gillispie Team was dissatisfied with their current business cards and wanted a nice refresh - one card for Jacek personally and another card for the rest of the team. in the world of lending companies, there are a lot of brand guidelines and legalities to follow. the card has to contain certain information legally and also needs other information for utility. the challenge is to include all of the necessary information while breaking it up into discernable sections that make it easier for the eye to perceive and for the human brain to decode. the card should also just be pleasant to look at without having to read it.

THE SOLUTION:

I figured out which font the overarching company used for their branding and chose that to be the main font so that it would be consistent with the Summit Funding logo. I also kept the color palette consistent and used the shapes in the logo as a point of expansion for decorative elements. these elements served to split the information into sections in a stylish manner that also served the practical function of making it easier to read. the landscape orientation of the team photo provided to me gave the opportunity to try a different layout that ended up being a nice contrast. Jacek and those in the office were very pleased with these cards!
