Dwaine Casmey is a man with a story to tell.

a victim of child abuse who lived a life in and out of juvenile detention, on and off the streets. Dwaine is no stranger to drug addiction, prison and even prostitution.

Dwaine also learned computer programming while serving time in prison in the early 80’s.

he now has decades of software design experience and owns his own tech company.

Dwaine has now embarked on a mission to help others overcome the obstacles in their lives, share his story and give hope to those who are struggling.

Dwaine gave me the opportunity to build him a website and design a logo.

the symbol is a “D” and a “C” denoting Dwaine’s initials. I originally designed 4 options for Dwaine to choose from and this is the one he landed on, because the symbol intentionally resembles a treble clef and Dwaine is a lifelong musician.

in creating the header to Dwaine’s website, I was quite captured by the mugshot feature on the cover of Dwaine’s book - Roller Coaster Hill: The Road from Rejection to Redemption.

I decided to design the aesthetic of the website around the mugshot

I tore some paper out of drawing book that I had, crumpled it up and took pictures of it to provide the background. I then photoshopped a cutout of Dwaine’s mugshot.
